7,000 kids enroll in DepEd’s summer preschool classes
ROXAS CITY – Thousands of children in Capiz are being prepared by the Department of Education for formal education at the opening of this school year.
According to Pre-School Capiz Division Coordinator Haidelyn Geromiano, a total of 7,885 children are being enrolled this for a 6-week summer class for pre-school children.
Geromiano disclosed that said summer classes have started last April 12 and will end on May 21.
She said that a total of 365 pre-school teachers are handling the classes for the summer activity covering the 18 districts of the DepEd Capiz Division.
She explained that the summer class is conducted to prepare the children to formal education at the opening of the classes in June.
“The summer class is not only about teaching the children on formal education but also a transition and adjustment period, particularly on the longer time of teaching,” Geromiano said.
She said that there are children who tend to quit classes because they are used to only 2 hours classes during their pre-school classes. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
