Cousins rapped in Panitan Village chief’s death
ROXAS CITY – Suspects were finally charged for murder in the killing of Quios barangay captain Rolando Besorio last year.
Charged before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on April 16 were cousins Orlando Pionelo and Rene Pionelo, both of Brgy. Quios.
Earlier, the police faced a blank wall as to the identity of the suspects, however, several witnesses surfaced and tagged the two as behind the death of Besorio.
Besorio was the 2nd barangay captain who was gunned down in Bgry. Quios. The first one was Brgy. Captain Dante Delmindo who was also shot to death at a benefit dance several years ago.
Besorio, by law of succession being number one councilor, assumed office in March last year. He was replaced again by the number 3 councilor after he was shot dead in an ambush staged by two motorcycle-riding men in November last year.
Besorio was on his way home riding a multi-cab when ambushed by several suspects.
Del Mindo was among the 13 barangay captains who supported Tingcopon Brgy. Captain Richard “Bantit” Dadivas, who is currently running for mayor against incumbent Mayor Kit Belo.
On the other hand, Besorio was also among the 13 barangay captains who supported incumbent Liga President Ignacio Deocampo. Deocampo, who won in a toss coin during a tie with Dadivas, is the supporter of Belo.
