DAR distributes 143 hectares of farmland to Tapaz farmers
ROXAS CITY – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Capiz has recently distributed 143 hectares of farmland to 88 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) in Tapaz town.
The total land area distributed came from 12 different landholding covered by the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in barangays Aglinap, Carida, Libertad, Bagong Barrio, San Miguel Ilaya, San Miguel Ilawod, San Pedro, San Nicolas, San Julian, Poblacion, Tabon, Candelaria, San Vicente, Katipunan and San Jose.
DAR – Capiz Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Regina L. Caspillo led the distribution of the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to the farmer-beneficiaries.
A CARP orientation seminar with the farmer –beneficiaries on their rights and obligations as well as the salient features of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reform (CARPER) or Republic Act No. 9700 was conducted by DAR prior to the distribution of CLOAs.
The seminar was conducted by Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer Ana San Felix and Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Vilma I. Erispe.
San Felix said that the ARBs conveyed their gratitude to the government that finally they have received their CLOAs and are now seeing brighter future as new owners of the land they till.
Earlier, the same group expressed their fear that they would no longer get the chance to receive CLOAs that they have been waiting for if CARP extension would not be approved. (DAR-CCC/PIA/A.Lumaque)
