Lakas-Kampi-CMD declares victory in Capiz, too
ROXAS CITY – If Liberal Party (LP) whose bets here almost dominated poll surveys has declared victory in Capiz, the Lakas-Kampi-CMD declared victory, too as majority of mayors throw support to the party.
2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro said last Friday at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center (DRCC) that Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard bearer Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro will win because of the overwhelming support of Capiceños and the local officials.
City Mayor Vicente Bermejo also said that Gibo will win as he is the most qualified candidate and he said that Capiz is green not yellow, referring to the color of LP.
However, Teodoro evaded the local media who expected to have him in the press conference or even in an ambush interview.
Teodoro arrived at the Roxas City airport via private plane at around 10 a.m. last Friday where City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, Vice Governor Felipe Barredo (who is running for 1st district congressman), Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo together with his Vice Mayor Gualberto Bernas III and councilors, Pontevedra Vice Mayor Noeme Dumapig (who is running for 1st district board member), Dr. Mimi Ardivilla, wife of Board Member Gilbert Ardivilla, (who is running for board member), all of Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC) and other allies.
From the airport Teodoro proceeded to Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center where Lakas-Kampi Chair 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro and ally mayors and mayorables waited as thousands of supporters coming from both first and second district waited for him at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center (DRCC).
During the sorties inside the civic center, Castro and Bermejo, who are former allies of Roxas, endorsed Teodoro as the next president of the Philippines.
Twelve out of 17 incumbent mayors of Capiz signified their intention to support Gibo, they are: Ivisan Mayor Ipe Yap, Mambusao Mayor Jose Alba, Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon, Tapaz Mayor Rosemarie Gardose, Dumalag Mayor Lilia Castro, Dumarao Mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamen, Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores and Dao Mayor Joselito Escutin, all of 2nd district; President Roxas Mayor Rosauro Beunafe and Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo and City Mayor Vicente Beremjo and Panitan Mayor Kit Belo, represented by Councilor Ricardo Araque.
Only four mayors, such as :Pontevedra Mayor Steve Contreras, Maayon Mayor Belegio Dueñas, Pilar Mayor Ritalyn Patricio and Sigma Mayor Maria Andaya who are loyal to Sen. Mar Roxas and Sapian Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr., who is also loyal to Nacionalista Party (NP) standard bearer Presidential Candidate Sen. Manny Villar, were not around during the sorties.
Also pledged to support Teodoro were: Mayoralty Candidates:Former Mayor Roberto Sualog of Sigma, Councilor Villamor Barruela of Maayon, Former Mayor Jojie Avelino of Pontevedra and Vice Mayor Sianong Patricio of Pilar.
Earlier, Roxas said that Capiz is the battle ground of LP and Lakas-Kampi CMD or administration as they want to have “tuloy ang ligaya” while LP is striving for “tuloy ang laban” as the LP is referring to stop corruption in the government.
