Panitan mayor bolted or kicked from LP?
ROXAS CITY – Has Panitan Mayor Katherine “Kit” Belo bolted or was she kicked out from the Liberal Party (LP)?
That’s the question of several quarters after LP reportedly endorsed Belo’s opponent Tingcupon Barangay Captain Richard “Bantit” Dadivas to be the party’s new ally.
On the other hand, Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC) also included Belo as their new ally in their series of sorties.
It was learned that Belo filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) under LP while Dadivas and party mates filed as independent.
LP camp said that Belo bolted from LP and joined UKC party of former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante since his wife Carol Dorado is a close relative of former Panitan Mayor Josefina Dorado Dequiña, mother of Belo.
Earlier, the party also accused Belo of secretly campaigning for Bolante in their sorties however, Belo strongly denied it adding that she is loyal to the party.
Belo said that her mother was the only one who is loyal to LP during the incumbency of President Corazon Aquino as she was the only mayor who was not replaced by officer-in-charge and retained as mayor of Panitan.
Bolante is facing incumbent Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. of LP in May 10, 2010 gubernatorial race.
Belo was not reached for comment relative to her exclusion in the LP however, her ally who requested not to be identified, said that the party kicked Belo and has secretly supported her opponent Dadivas from the very beginning.
According to the source, the LP hierarchy was the one who is behind the candidacy of Dadivas to oppose Belo in Panitan mayoral race.
