P1.5M lost in Divine Mercy fire damage — BFP
ROXAS CITY – Some P1.5 million worth of damage was caused by fire that razed 70 cottages in the shrine of Divine Mercy last week in Barangay Sibaguan, this city.
The cottages, gutted by fire, were used by Divine Mercy devotees every time they visit the area to pray or meditate.
Roxas City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), which estimated the said damage, also revealed that the fire started at around 1:30 p.m. on April 24 and was extinguished after almost 2 hours.
Initial investigation conducted by BFP said that four persons, who are contractors were last seen at the premises of this religious organization who might have left the place unsafe resulting to the fire.
Several firetrucks coming from neighboring towns responded to fight the fire.
