Capiz 2nd district lacks farm-to-market roads—Lastimoso
ROXAS CITY – Liberal Party (LP) bet in 2nd district congressional race said that the 2nd district particularly Tapaz, Capiz lacks farm-to-market roads reason why it is underdeveloped.
Former PNP Chief Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso said in dyOW Bombo Radyo debate that he noticed there are 22 barangays in Tapaz, Capiz that have no farm-to-market roads, as a result residents of these barangays have to pass through Calinog town in Iloilo to reach the Tapaz town proper to sell their produce.
Lastimoso attended the radio station’s debate however, his opponent Mrs. Jane Castro, wife of outgoing 2nd District Rep. Fredenil Castro, was not around. The debate, which was held Friday night last week, was anchored by Mr. JM Estorninos while the panelists were: Mr. Joneth Blancaver, representing the business sector, and Professor Romeo Lorenzo of Filamer Christian College, representing the academe.
“This is the 3rd time that my opponent failed to attend this forum, manami gid tani kon ari siya,” Lastimoso said referring to Mrs. Castro who was also absent during the forum held at Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion and FCC last month.
As to his platform of government, the former Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief said that he would file a bill that will give assistance to the farmers by putting irrigation and support the pre and post harvest facilities once get elected.
“Insurgency problems are still there because of poverty,” he said.
Lastimoso, who was also former Usec. of Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), said that he will also improve education and support more scholars to improve the economy.
Once elected into office, he also said that he will establish the watchdog committee in the 2nd district to monitor all projects and assure transparency and accountability.
“We want that corruption be removed as LP’s slogan is: Kung walang korap walang mahirap,” Lastimoso said.
Meanwhile, Lastimoso said that the Marugo Dam in Tapaz was developed by Mayoralty Candidate Nonong Palomar into a tourist attraction.
