Foolish dreams
Indeed we believe that most of us have our own dreams. Idealistic dreams mostly come from children whose minds are not yet corrupted while realistic dreams come from adults whose experience have great influence.
One presidential candidate even uses children in his political campaign stressing that it is not bad to have dreams as long as it will be reached in an upright process. There is no question for that but for one who dreamed to end the poverty in the country is stupidity.
Stupidity in the sense that it is like promising a utopia but no realistic solutions. He took example of himself who was able to alleviate his living through the so-called “sipag at tiyaga”.
But how can he do that to the many poor Filipinos whose situation is very far from him? We are not trying to be pessimistic on this aspect but we are just trying to present the reality that it is easy for said presidential candidate to lift his status of living considering that he is not that poor as what he is trying to portray to the general public by having a father who have a white collar job, a business woman mother and who also went through some exclusive schools.
Further, how can he end poverty when in fact all he did was mudslinging to his fellow candidates? Instead of speaking unity and reconciliation, he spoke otherwise and he even appealed emotions just to gain votes by exposing his mother on the media. We cannot even picture out his clear platform of government and region-specific plans and strategies which are very essential in developing a nation.
Unity and reconciliation are the aspects that could help lessen if not eliminate insurgencies in the country which prevent a nation from developing. A true leader does not throw negative issues to his opponent but rather present his clear platform of government and let the Filipino voters decide. A true leader, further have a strong emotional stand and does not use the weak like children and older women to advance his agenda.
Thus, the absence of said characteristics to a leader makes his dreams foolish and will remain only as a dream and he is not the man the Filipino people should take as a leader. Nothing will happen to Filipino people with such a foolish dream from a dreamer politician.
