Another political leader of Tanco gunned down
ROXAS CITY – Another political leader of Dumarao Mayoralty Candidate Victor Tanco, Jr, son of Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Sr, was gunned down Saturday night in Barangay Bungso-an, Dumarao, Capiz.
SPO4 Eddie Onato, police chief of Dumarao PNP Station, identified the victim as Raymund Lozada, legal age of Barangay Bungso-an, Dumarao, Capiz.
Lozada, who is a political leader of Tanco, Jr., was shot around 7:30 p.m. on May 1 at the gate of their house. He was wounded on the stomach inflicted by 12 gauge shotgun. He was rushed to Dumarao District hospital but because of serious wound, he was transferred to Dao District hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, said Onato.
Onato said that the suspect who was identified by the parents of the victim is at large as of press time. He said that the incident was politically motivated.
Lozada is the second political leader of Tanco who was gunned down while the May 10, 2010 election is approaching. The first one was Ruben Dorado who was shot dead while sleeping inside their house last month.
Tanco, who is running under the Liberal Party, is facing his 3rd cousin incumbent Mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamin of Lakas Kampi CMD.
Last month, Tanco’s supporter Ruben Dorado was shot dead inside his house.
Police still do now know the identity of the suspects as no witnesses have come out.
Dorado is a die-hard supporter and trusted man of Victor Jr. He died on the spot due to a gunshot wound on his head caused by a 12-gauge shotgun.
