RPA-ABB leader denies expose of 2 ‘ex-RPA-ABB members’
Iloilo City mayoralty candidate and former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. dubbed as part of the grand design to discredit him the purported expose of two alleged members of Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) linking him to the alleged assassination plot on Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas who is running for congressman against his son.
Gonzalez, in an interview with Aksyon Radyo’s Joecel Bañas yesterday, challenged the two alleged former RPA members Alias Nonoy and Noli to present themselves for a “confrontation” with Chief Insp. Musa Amiyong, former Punong Barangay Morito Gratis, and PO2 Rolex Refugio whom they accused to have hired their services to kill Mayor Treñas and his brother Francis.
“It is easy to invent stories like this. I challenge them to show up, they should not hide their faces because their accusations are very damaging,” Gonzalez said.
“I challenge them to have a confrontation with the three persons they have named in their allegation so that we will know if what they are telling us is true,” he added.
Alias Nonoy and Noli were both wearing bonnet and a garb to cover their body when they faced a group of reporters at a certain place in Arevalo district yesterday.
Nonoy merely read a prepared statement in Hiligaynon and did not answer questions from the media.
Gonzalez denied having a connection with RPA-ABB’s Demetrio Capilastique or Ka Hugo, saying “he (Capilastique) is angry at me.”
He added that the last time he saw Capilastique was about two years ago. “I haven’t seen him anymore, I have no business with him,” Gonzalez stressed.
He also challenged the police and even the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the veracity of the allegations of the two alleged ex-RPA-ABB members.
“Clearly this is part of their grand design and strategy to discredit me and my son’s candidacy as the election day draws near,” Gonzalez said.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol Iloilo yesterday reported that Capilastique denied the allegations of the two alleged RPA-ABB members.
Interviewed by ABS-CBN reporter Nony Basco, Capilastique also denied knowing alias Nonoy and Noli. He said the two are not their men.
Capilastique also appealed on both Nonoy and Noli not to use the RPA-ABB in their political pursuits.
