Gonzalezes losing—survey
Mayor Jerry Treñas firms up lead on his bid for congressman in the lone district of this city.
Treñas is way ahead of his opponents, Lone District Rep. Raul Gonzalez Jr. and Mansueto Malabor, in the latest scientific survey conducted by the reputable survey firm – Random Access Consultants, Inc. (RACI).
Treñas remains the preferred congressional candidate by more than half of the city’s registered voters with 51.7 percent. Gonzalez and Malabor were behind with 34.3 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively.
The survey was commissioned by one of the country’s leading radio network, Bombo Radyo Philippines.
RACI conducted the survey from April 24 to 25. It covered a sample size of 1,200 respondent-registered voters selected from the 60 barangays in this city. It has a margin of error of less than or equal to three percent with a level of confidence of 95 percent.
Treñas leads in almost all city districts distributed as follows:
- Arevalo District–Treñas got 45.8 percent; Gonzalez, 39.2 percent; Malabor, 11.7 percent;
- City Proper District–Treñas has 52.2 percent; Gonzalez, 35 percent; Malabor, 5.6 percent;
- Jaro District–Treñas got 55 percent; Gonzalez, 32.3 percent; Malabor, four percent;
- La Paz District–Treñas leads the biggest with 61.9 percent; Gonzalez, 28.1 percent; Malabor, 6.3 percent;
- Mandurriao District–Treñas has 49.4 percent; Gonzalez, 28.1 percent; Malabor, 6.9 percent;
- Molo District–Treñas got 49.4 percent; Gonzalez, 40 percent; Malabor, five percent; and
- Lapuz District–Treñas has 39 percent; Gonzalez, 42 percent; Malabor, nine percent.
Treñas is the preferred congressman by the majority of the male and female voters.
Aside from Treñas, the Ilonggos firmly support his tandem with Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
Mabilog is running for mayor in the metropolis.
In the same survey, Mabilog enjoys a wide margin of percentage against former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. and former Undersecretary Larry Jamora. Mabilog got 43.8 percent. While, Gonzalez and Jamora got 27,8 percent and 20,7 percent, respectively.
Mabilog leads in all the city districts here, as follows:
- Arevalo District–Mabilog got 40.8 percent; Jamora, 26.7 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 23.3 percent;
- City Proper District–Mabilog has 47.8 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 28.3 percent; Jamora, 17.8 percent;
- Jaro District–Mabilog got 45 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 29.3 percent; Jamora, 17.7 percent;
- La Paz District–Mabilog has 47.5 percent; Jamora, 23.8 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 23.1 percent;
- Lapuz District–Mabilog got 34 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 29 percent; Jamora, 29 percent;
- Mandurriao District–Mabilog has 45 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 22.5 percent; Jamora, 18.1 percent; and
- Molo District–Mabilog got 40.6 percent; Gonzalez Sr., 35.6 percent; Jamora, 19.4 percent.
Based on the survey, the upcoming elections would be the end of the political career of the Gonzalezes.
