Army deploys troops for peaceful polls
ROXAS CITY – The insurgency affected areas in Capiz are already saturated by the members of the Philippine Army.
According to Philippine Army’s 47 Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Col. Tyne Bañas, they have already started the deployment of their troops to the identified insurgency affected areas in the province last May 2.
Bañas revealed that said areas include the towns of Tapaz, Dumarao, Cuartero, Maayon, Jamindan, Dumalag, Sigma and Mambusao
He also said that they will also deploy their men today in the municipalities of Pontevedra, Pilar and President Roxas in response to the request and approval of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
On the other hand, Bañas said that they are waiting for the approval of the Comelec on the request for the deployment of Army troops in Roxas City.
Bañas disclosed further that they are also escorting in the delivery of precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines in the different areas in Capiz, particularly those in the identified insurgency affected villages.
During the final conference of the members of the Joint Security Coordinating Center here, the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police have agreed to work hand in hand to ensure honest, peaceful, orderly and clean elections this May 10. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
