Bolante may lose gubernatorial bid but allies dominate Capiz province
ROXAS CITY – Former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante may lose in his gubernatorial bid against incumbent Governor Victor Tanco, Sr. in May 10, 2010 election but his allies will still dominate Capiz as majority won the first ever poll automation.
As of 2 p.m. yesterday, the provincial board of canvassers was observed to still await for the untransmitted results from different towns in 2nd district due to the failure of Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines in some areas.
It was learned that Tanco will definitely won the election after trending results coming from different towns of the gubernatorial race were favorable to Tanco with overwhelming margin over Bolante.
However, final and official reports from municipal officers in respective towns revealed that in 2nd district, nine mayors out of ten won the election, they are Ivisan Mayor Felipe Yap and running mate vice mayor Boy Arboleda, all of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, won over opponents LP mayoral bet Hilario Untayao and running mate Homer Salgado.
Other Bolante’s allies are Mrs. Jane Castro, wife of outgoing Rep. Fredenil Castro, who won in congressional race over opponent Former PNP Chief Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso; Sapian Mayor Arturo Orosco, Sr. and running mate Vice Mayor Ralph Odrunia; Mambusao Mayor Jose Alba and running mate Vice Mayor Abel Martinez; Dao Mayor Joselito Escutin and running mate Loreto Eslaban; Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores and running mate Jude Cedullo.
Other winner are: Dumalag Mayor Lilia Castro and running mate Amado Eriberto Castro, Jr.; Dumarao Mayor Leslie Warren Benjamen and running mate Vice Mayor Querubin Pamplona; Tapaz Mayor Rosemarie Gardose and running mate and Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon and running mate are expected to win due to ther Castro factor who dominate in the 2nd district.
In the 1st district, Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo and Vice Mayor Gualberto Bernas III, UKC, defended their post and Panitan Mayor Kit Belo and Vice Mayor Generoso Deramas won over LP’s bets.
LP’s mayoralty allies in 1st district of Capiz are: Celino (see related story), Pontevedra Mayor Steve Contreras and running mate; Pres.Roxas Mayor Raymund Locsin and running mate; Maayon Mayor Wilfredo Borres and running mate; and Pilar Mayor Ritalyn Patricio and running mate, all are in 2nd district and Sigma Mayor Maria Andaya and running mate.
