Castro, Del Rosario, Tanco take landslide victories over opponents
ROXAS CITY – Congresswoman-elect Mrs. Jane Tan Castro, wife of outgoing 2nd District Rep. Fredenil Castro, Reelected 1st Cong. Antonio del Rosario and Reelected Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. were able to have landslide victories over their opponents in May 10, 2010 election.
They were proclaimed by provincial Comelec officer Atty. Wil Arceño midnight of Wednesday.
Final and official results of the provincial Comelec showed that Castro of Lakas-Kampi CMD being chaired by her husband Fredenil, garnered 109,947 votes while her opponent Former PNP Chief Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso of Liberal Party (LP) got 47,885 votes with a margin of 62,062 votes.
On his part, Del Rosario of LP enjoyed a substantial margin with 77,584 votes compared to his opponents Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo of UKC who got 45,859 votes, former Rep. Rodriguez Dadivas who garnered 41,205 votes and Diosdado Tinsay who only acquired 1,397 votes.
On the other hand, Tanco of LP was able to sweep former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante of UKC. The second termer governor enjoyed 198,501 votes while Bolante got only 121,176 votes and Sinon Amoroso got the smallest of 3,320 votes.
In gubernatorial race, Board Member Esteban “Nonoy” Contreras of LP likewise enjoyed a large margin with 170,340 votes compared to former City Councilor Mark Ortiz who got 123,210 votes.
Meanwhile, the 1st district provincial board is dominated by LP while 2nd district is also ruled by Lakas-Kampi CMD.
For the first district, winners are: Jonathan Besa, LP, 69,220 votes; Blesilda Almalbis, UKC, 69,032 votes; Atty. Remia Fuentes Bartolome, 68,447 votes; Roberto Ignacio, 63,484 votes and Eduardo Magallanes, 61,800 votes, all of LP.
For 2nd district, James Magbanua, 61,949 votes; Dr. Mimi Ardivilla, 57,916 votes; Jeffrey Layo, 56,750 votes; all of Lakas Kampi CMD; Aldwin Cruz-Am, LP, 56,153 votes; and Carmilo Robles, 49,400 votes, Lakas Kampi CMD.
The ten provincial board members were also proclaimed on Wednesday by the provincial Comelec.
