Treñas wants ‘seamless transition’ of power in Iloilo City
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas vowed a “seamless transition” of power at the city hall when he steps down on June 30.
The outgoing chief executive is relinquishing his duties to leading mayoralty candidate, Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who is now waiting for the official proclamation of the Commission on Elections after lording it over his rivals for the said position.
Treñas himself is poised to become the representative of the city’s lone congressional district pending his proclamation as winner.
He said a transition team has already been formed by virtue of Executive Order 16 to prepare for the effective turn-over of governance to incoming city officials.
The mayor is the chairperson of the team, while the vice chairperson will be chosen from among the members composed of all department heads and representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government, Commission on Audit and the Iloilo Business Club (IBC).
“After the proclamation (of winning candidates), we will hold regular meetings with the members and Mayor-elect Jed,” Treñas said.
He wanted a smooth changeover, just like the time he assumed as mayor of the city in 2001 when he created a transition team that organized everything and held daily briefings at least two weeks before the turn-over of new officials.
Treñas expressed confidence on the administration of Mabilog for he has been familiar with the city’s programs and projects, thereby making it easier to continue what have been started. (PIO)
