Barber stabs dead fellow barber over ‘beef stew’
An argument that started over a beef stew viand ended fatal between two barbers Sunday evening at La Paz Public Market at Rizal St., La Paz, Iloilo City.
The incident claimed the life of Benjie Glemer, 24, of Brgy. Guintaba, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
The suspect was identified as Danilo Francisco, 29, a native of Brgy. Pandangan, Valderama, Antique and Glemer’s fellow barber at Rodgie Barber Shop in La Paz district.
Prior to the stabbing episode, reports said that the two barbers shared some bottles of drink at the La Paz Public Market.
But after gulping several bottles, Francisco claimed that he got irritated after the victim insisted of having him eat the beef stew hey were sharing.
It came to a point, the suspect added, that the victim spoon fed him.
As they were heading out of the public market, an argument between the two of them led to grappling.
The suspect then took his pair of scissors and stabbed Glemer for several times.
The victim was hit on the right clavicle, right armpit, stomach, left thigh and left palm.
Glemer was brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Francisco immediately fled after the incident.
But at around 10:40 p.m., or 20 minutes after the stabbing, Iloilo City Brgy. Peacekeeper Action Team (ICBPAT ) members Precioso Campoid Jr., Joan Gabion, and Danbert de Lara arrested the suspect at corner Luna and Huervana Sts., La Paz.
A pair of 8-inch scissors was also yielded in his possession.
Francisco is presently detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 2 pending the filing of charges against him.
