Capiceños may reach 722T
ROXAS CITY – About 722,000 Capiceños have been projected by the National Statistics Office (NSO) – Provincial Office as of May this year.
The projection is based on the August 2007 provincial population of 701,664 with a one percent annual growth rate.
However, this will be validated by the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) which started last May 17 and will last for about 23 days.
“CPH 2010 has tapped 537 census enumerators who have undergone training on population data gathering,” said NSO – Provincial Statistics Officer Eriberto Escalamad.
He added that all accomplished forms will be submitted to the NSO – Provincial Office for manual processing.
“Hopefully by December we can release the official population count upon the proclamation by the President,” Esclamad noted.
The census, which has set May 1, 2010 as reference date, will include the entire process of collecting, compiling, evaluating, analyzing, publishing, and disseminating data about the population and the living quarters in a country.
It will be the 13th census of population and the 6th census of housing that will be conducted in the country since the first census was undertaken in 1903. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
