Four motorbike riders die in Iloilo collisions
Four persons lost their lives following two motorcycle incidents in Iloilo Thursday evening last week.
The first incident happened at around 7:00 in the evening as three-motorcycle riding men collided with a truck along Sitio Gintaba, Brgy. Guintas, Barotac Nuevo town.
The victims were identified as Jose Belanio, 40; Romar Duaso, 26; and Arial Belanio, 27.
According to investigator Raffy Gonzales, the three victims, on board a motorcycle, were taking a sharp curve when they collided with an Isuzu Canter driven by Efren Dumancas.
After the collision, they skidded for several seconds until the victims were thrown off the vehicle.
Gonzales said the victims succumbed to multiple head and body injuries because of the impact of the collision.
Even Dumancas was also injured on his leg and knee.
Initial investigation showed that the victims were reeking with liquor.
On top of that, all of them were not wearing crash helmets.
Dumancas surrendered after the incident.
Three hours later, Iloilo City recorded another motorcycle incident at Brgy. Calubihan, Jaro, Iloilo City.
PO1 Leo dela Cruz, 28, of Nueva Valencia PNP in Guimaras province was driving the motorcycle with a lady companion, who was not immediately known due to the absence of any identification documents.
The two victims came from Mandurriao district and were on their way to City Proper when the motorcycle they were riding rammed a parked truck.
The truck apparently had a mechanical trouble but its riders failed to place an early warning device.
Both victims were rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center but dela Cruz was declared dead on arrival.
His female companion, 21-year old Mary Pauline Alpis of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, is still in critical condition, according to traffic investigator PO3 Miguel Blancia.
Alpis is still at the intensive care unit of the Iloilo Mission Hospital.
