‘King’ Solomon eyes Liga ng mga Barangay seat
ROXAS CITY – Week after the May 10, 2010 election, the election fever is still on the mind of elective officials as the barangay election on October this year is fast approaching where the Liga ng mga Barangay election will also follow.
Libas Bgry. Captain “King” Solomon Alisasis said that he was already told by City Mayor-elect Alan Celino to head the Liga ng mga Barangay as president in lieu of Mongpong Brgy. Captain Wilson Acervo.
He said that he is now going around to convince village chiefs to support his bid and unseat Acervo in the liga presidency.
Alisasis, who is one of the 12 village chiefs who are die-hard supporters of Celino, delivered some 500 margin votes in favor of the latter. Celino defeated incumbent City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, who was supported by 35 brgy captains, in the recently concluded polls.
Reliable sources told The News Today (TNT) that Alisasis was given authority as a reward by the Liberal Party (LP) since the former was among the village chiefs who campaigned for Celino and other LP’s bets.
The same source said that the LP will unseat Acervo to be replaced by Alisasis once Celino assumes office this July 1.
Earlier, Alisasis and Inzo Arnaldo Brgy. Captain Gading Capapas were groomed to be the next city liga president.
On the other hand, Acervo said that he welcomed the move of Alisasis however, he said that he has still the mandate as liga president until his term expires which is after the barangay election this coming October.
Acervo, who handed down the liga constitution and by-laws, said that Alisasis needs 36 out of 47 village chiefs representing three-fourths (¾) of the barangay captains to unseat him even before his unexpired term.
He added that he will be ousted being a liga president through the approval of the provincial liga federation under the leadership of its president Budong Firmalino.
It was also learned that Firmalino is a political ally of Acervo in Uyon Kita Capiz (UKC)-Lakas Kampi CMD.
