Ex-blue guard nabbed in drug bust
A former security guard was arrested following an anti-illegal drugs raid Saturday morning at City Proper, Iloilo City.
Joint elements of City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) led by Police Chief Insp. Dande Deocampo and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested 46-year old Edward Montaño in his home Brgy. Mabolo-Delgado.
The operation against the suspect was strengthened by search warrant issued by Executive Judge Ma. Elena Opinion of RTC Branch 27, Iloilo City.
Prior to his arrest, Deocampo said that they had conducted a test buy against Montaño.
A poseur buyer successfully bought P150 worth of dried marijuana leaves on the suspect.
Recovered at the suspect’s possession were two mobile phones, disposable lighters, dried marijuana leaves, and cash amounting to P1,750, to include the P150 buy bust money.
But amid the allegations on him, Montaño stood pat that the confiscated items were just “planted” by the raiding team.
Before this operation, CAIDSOTG and PDEA also jointly arrested a suspected drug pusher at Brgy. Zamora-Melliza, City Proper.
Recovered during the operations were six plastic sachets of suspected shabu, several shabu paraphernalia, and the P440 marked money.
But just like Montaño, suspect Arsenio Gadian denied he was selling shabu, or even using one.
He claimed to have stopped being a drug use some give years ago after his acquittal from a murder charge.
