Human Flag set for 112th Independence Day celeb in Bacolod
The much talked about human flag spearheading the Independence Day parade will again serve as the highlight of the 112th celebration in Bacolod on June 12.
Unlike last year, however, the Independence Day parade will converge at the SM Mall instead of the New Government Center. Mayor Evelio Leonardia said that this is to enable more people to see and join in the celebration.
This year’s human flag will also be smaller in terms of number of participants and will be composed of students and government employees.
The human flag will lead the parade that will also be participated in by private companies, civic organizations, schools, police and military and non-government institutions.
The city government’s Independence Day committee decided to reduce the number of participants in the parade to allow more time for the program that will serve as highlight of the celebration.
The whole-day celebration will kick off with the simultaneous raising of the Philippine flag in the morning to be followed by a short program at the city public plaza. The parade starts at 1 p.m.
Aside from the June 12 activity, the city government will also put up a photo exhibit depicting Bacolod history at the SM events center that will run from June 9 to 30 and will hold a poster making contest to be joined by students.
