Drug pushers target students
Drug pushers are setting their sights on students as the opening of classes nears.
To be more affordable, Paul Ledesma, officer-in-charge of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6), said that special ‘repacked’ sachets of shabu and marijuana are made available for the students.
Ledesma disclosed that drug pushers repack illegal drugs with affordable street value of P100 to P200.
“We are advising school authorities to strictly monitor their students,” he stressed.
Aside from this, some students were also made as ‘runners’ by these drug pushers.
Ledesma added the demand and prices of illegal drugs in the region are still the same because of their massive campaign after the elections.
“Our operations were slightly affected due to the recent elections but now nobody could stop us in running against these drug personalities,” he told The News Today.
In previous months, selling marijuana is becoming more lucrative than shabu because it is more affordable.
In fact, the PDEA-6 was able to arrest one drug pusher in Delgado-Mabolo Streets here over the weekend.
Eduardo Montaño was arrested having possession of two bricks of suspected dried marijuana leaves and other drug paraphernalia.
Ledesma stressed that each brick recovered from the suspect weighed 100 grams and worth P1,000.
Currently, dried marijuana leaves could be bought from P8,000 to P9,000 per kilo while shabu ranges from P9,000 to P12,000 per gram. Ecstasy, on the other hand, costs P1,500 per tablet.
