Del Rosario vows to prioritize irrigation projects
ROXAS CITY – Reelected 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario vowed to prioritize irrigation for all farm lands in his district aside from continuing projects sourced from his Priority Development Assistant Funds (PDAF).
According to him, only ten percent are rice land in the first district in Capiz and most of the farmers are having two crops every year.
He said that once the farm lands are irrigated, farmers will have seven crops in two years which means increase of production.
He also revealed that he will find funds from national agencies to finance the aborted construction of P180 million irrigation project in Maayon, Capiz during the stint of former Cong. Rodriquez Dadivas which was supposed to be undertaken by Department of Agriculture when Mr. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante was still Undersecretary.
It was learned that the irrigation which covered several towns in 1st district has no engine but water could supply farm lands through gravity.
“I think our farmers need irrigation not fertilizers especially during the dry season,” Del Rosario said.
Del Rosario also assured to have projects of some P500,000 infrastructures in every barangay of his district as his hard infra and financial assistance for his soft infra to be sourced from his PDAF.
Del Rosario, a chosen candidate of Sen. Mar Roxas, is a loyal member of Liberal Party (LP), won a landslide victory with the votes of some 75,000 plus in recent election over his opponents former Cong. Roging Dadivas (Independent) and Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo (Uygon Kita Capiz) who garnered some 41,000 plus and 45,000 plus respectively.
