BFP-Roxas City inspects 54 boarding houses so far
ROXAS CITY – Fifty–four boarding houses and dormitories have been checked by the Office of the City Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here as part of its on-going fire safety inspection to raise public awareness on fire safety and prevention.
“Majority of the boarding houses inspected have violations,” said BFP – Roxas City Fire Arson Investigator and Public Information Officer (PIO) Chief FO2 Marlon Garbo.
Garbo is included in the seven-member inspection team led by BFP – Roxas Operation chief SFO2 Johnie Adrid.
The team will re-inspect the boarding houses to check if the violations have been complied by the owners and operators, Garbo explained.
The result of the inspection as well as the list of boarding houses and dormitories will also be submitted to Roxas City Mayor – elect Alan Celino when he assumes office on July 1.
Based on BFP records, only 11 boarding houses and two dormitories have renewed their permits for 2010.
Garbo noted that the team has also inspected schools in the city especially on their respective exit signages and fire extinguishers. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
