PGMA spells out ‘good words’
ROXAS CITY – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had “good words” in her farewell address last night.
According to RMN- DYVR station manager and anchorman Elizer Abarra, President Arroyo was in good mood and had good words in her farewell message which was covered by almost all stations nationwide.
“The President puts good things, good mood and good words together that would make everybody happy,” he said.
Abarra, who is also the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas-Capiz Chapter president, said that in her speech, President Arroyo did not say negative words against her critics, instead she congratulated president and vice president- elect Aquino and Binay, respectively.
He added that he admired Arroyo for calling the public to unite and support the next administration.
“We cannot also ignore the developments brought about by the Arroyo administration like the Ro-Ro ports, sea and airports, roads and bridges but must not also ignore that there are those who are not satisfied in her leadership,” Abarra stressed.
He said that those who are benefited from her projects are also appreciative and those who are not will also criticize.
As a media practitioner, Abarra pointed out that their criticisms against the Arroyo administration is for the good and welfare of the people and a means of calling the attention of the public officials to do what are expected of them.
On the other hand, Abarra vowed that as watchdogs of the society, they will continue to be vigilant and tell the public of what is going on in the government.
Last night President Arroyo made her farewell address and called on the Filipino people to unite behind the new leaders.
She also thanked everyone for giving her the honor and privilege to serve the country and challenged the Filipinos to move join hands, move forward and walk confidently towards a better tomorrow. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
