Man in town’s most wanted list nabbed
One of the most wanted persons in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the town’s Brgy. Cabugao Sur.
Jonathan Alanes, 27, a resident of the said village, was collared by members of the Sta. Barbara Police Station.
Sta. Barbara police chief, Chief Insp. Elmer Armada, said the arrest was a result of an information they received from a tipster, also resident of Brgy. Cabugao, who claimed that Alanes was spotted in the area.
“So we immediately formed a team and went to the area,” Armada said.
Alanes has an arrest warrant for frustrated homicide issued by Judge Victorino Maniba of Regional Trial Court Branch 39 in Iloilo City. A bailbond of P24,000 was fixed for his provisional liberty.
The suspect claimed that he was just implicated in a rumble that happened in November 2009, but Alanes denied any direct involvement in the case.
The police also learned later that Alanes is also wanted for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Victor Gelvezon of RTC Branch 36 in Iloilo City, at a bailbond of P200,000.
The suspect, who also denied involvement in the drug case, is now detained at the Sta. Barbara Police Station lock-up cell.
