Boracay tourist arrival rising; reaches 378,000
The Boracay tourist arrival keeps on increasing after two years of typhoon Frank devastation which caused damaged on infrastructures to the premier tourism area.
As of the recent report of the Department of Tourism (DOT) headed by Regional Dir. Edwin Trompeta, tourist arrival in Boracay reached 378,694 in January to May 2010, up slightly by 12.15 percent from 337,664 in 2009.
Of the total, foreign tourists reached 113,415.
The nationalities which registered to have the biggest number of arrivals are Korea with 37,851; China, 17,133; France, 1,566; Taiwan, 15,118; United States of America, 6,484; Hong Kong, 3,853; United Kingdom, 3,259; Australia, 2,941; Germany, 2,574; and Japanese, 2,346.
The receipts generated from the tourists in Boracay amounted to P6.96 billion. (PNA)
