Man in WV’s most wanted list nabbed in Bukidnon
A decade after he went into hiding, one of the most wanted persons in Western Visayas was finally collared Saturday.
Indeed, suspect Angelo Estrada, 33, a native of Brgy. Camalig, Jaro, Iloilo City proved why he should be listed in the region’s most wanted roll.
Combined elements of the Iloilo City police Office (ICPO) Intelligence Section and Jaro Police Station arrested the suspect at the far-flung village of Bacusanon in Pangantucan, Bukidnon.
The four arresting police operatives left Iloilo City last June 19 and had to conduct a surveillance operation before the suspect’s actual arrest 10:45 in the morning of Saturday.
Jaro Police Station chief Chief Insp. Orly Gabinete said that they immediately dispatched a team after they received information about the suspect’s presence in the area.
Estrada was apprehended by the strength of an arrest warrant for Criminal Case No. 52879 for the crime of murder issued by Judge Severino Aguilar of RTC Branch 35, Iloilo City.
He was accused of murdering a resident of Leganes last November 1, 1999.
According to Gabinete, the suspect was allegedly riding on a passenger jeepney when some four persons, to include the victim, picked on him.
The victim and his three companions allegedly ganged up on the suspect, who was by himself when the incident happened.
In retaliation, Estrada pulled a knife and stab one of his tormentors.
It was gathered that the suspect then went into hiding.
He was already residing in Bukidnon for several years, together with second wife, when he was arrested.
Estrada is presently detained at the lock-up cell of Jaro Police Station for proper disposition of his case.
