PDEA to focus on solving almost 3,000 drug cases in W. Visayas
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6) here vows to focus on the more than 2,960 pending drug cases in Western Visayas.
PDEA regional director Paul Ledesma said they will definitely make sure that these cases will be solved despite the slow flow of deliberation in the courts.
Ledesma admitted that the drug cases are still pending since their very few prosecutors who handle the cases.
Still, he said handling of these drug cases are faster than the previous years.
He said the courts are now helping in solving the pending cases so that PDEA can shift their work on buy bust operations and other field works.
Ledesma said most pending drug cases are in Bacolod City with 1,087 cases.
Iloilo City has 935, Negros Occidental with 345, and Iloilo Province with 249 cases.
The province of Capiz has 151 pending drug cases while Aklan has 141 and Antique with 32. The province of Guimaras only has 20 pending drug cases.
Ledesma said their campaign against illegal drugs will intensify now that the school has started and that pusher and drug peddlers abound near schools. (PNA)
