Bermejo returns 4 vehicles to prov’l government
ROXAS CITY – Two days before he steps down as an outgoing city chief executive, Mayor Vicente Bermejo returned the four controversial vehicles to the provincial government.
Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Sr. said that the said vehicles were turned over by Bermejo last Monday afternoon to the office of the Provincial General Service Office (PGSO) headed Boy Apa-ap.
It was learned that the said four vehicles such as Manlet, two pajero and one Safari were purchased by the provincial government when Bermejo was still the governor of Capiz.
However, when Bermejo became city mayor in 2007, the said four vehicles were brought by him in the city government in which Safari was his official service vehicle.
The said four vehicles were recalled by Apa-ap, who assumed as PGSO head last year, after he conducted provincial properties inventory.
Earlier, Bermejo claimed that the said four luxury vehicles were transferred in the name of the city government and could not be returned to the provincial government.
He also said that he can purchase Safari for his personal use as it has sentimental value for him and to be offset against his unclaimed terminal pay as governor in amount of P750,000 from the provincial government.
