Pagdilao to tap religious sector in police transformation program
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, newly-installed director of the Police Regional Office 6, said the Philippine National Police could carry out the mandate to serve, protect the people and improve the police services through their Integrated Transformation Program.
Pagdilao said that genuine transformation must start with individual spiritual reform, referring to some misguided or erring members of the organization, emphasizing that the PNP’s Integrated Transformation Program is implemented to resolve organizational dysfunctions and improve the quality of police services and strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
“That is why I am going to ask the help of our religious leaders to come in and help me transform the police spiritually and morally,” Pagdilao said in a report of the Philippine Information Agency.
He said that “transformation is about making real changes from within at manumbalik ang pagtitiwala sa Panginoon, sapagkat yan lang ang nakita ko na pinaka-epektibong paraan sa pagbabago”.
Pagdilao said that the moral and spiritual transformation must also be coupled with trainings to upgrade the skills of our policemen towards a higher level of service.
The PNP Integrated Transformation Program is the organization’s roadmap for long-term and lasting reforms in the Philippine National Police. The Transformation Program is now being implemented in order to resolve organizational dysfunctions and improve the quality of police services; strengthen law enforcement capabilities; and enhance the welfare and benefits of our personnel and dependents.
It identifies 12 key result areas when completed all together, will achieve PNP transformation namely, national policy and institutions development; police
operations; facilities development; human resources development and management; administrative and financial management; strategic planning and performance management; information and communication technology; demonstration of excellence through development of best practices; public information and advocacy; reform management; anti-corruption; and promotion of human rights.
