LP rules committee chairmanships in SP
ROXAS CITY – Councilors who ran under the ticket of Liberal Party dominated the committee chairmanships in the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
During the inaugural session Tuesday afternoon, seven LP members displaced the outnumbered five councilors of Ugyon Kita Capiz, none of whom got any committee chairmanship.
The 21 standing committee chairmanships were divided by the seven LP councilors among themselves.
Julius Abela was named chairman of the committee on justice, internal rules and ordinances; Emmanuel Billones Jr., finance and appropriation, and transportation, communication, and utilities; Linlyn Lim, health and sanitation, nutrition and cooperative, and housing and urban poor; and Erwin Sicad, infrastructure and public works, zoning and land use and youth, sports, games and amusements.
Also Powell del Rosario headed the committees on peace and order and police matters, environment, and ways and means; Matty Vetirbo, economic enterprises, business, trade and industry and barangay community development; Jennifer Anisco, agriculture and fisheries, women, family and senior citizen, and labor and employment; and Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, committee on tourism and development promotion.
The UKC councilors left out in the chairmanships are Teresa Almalbis, Carla Abela, Jose Agdalipe and two ex-officio members, Liga ng mga Barangay President Wilson Acervo and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Katrina Barrios.
Almalbis and Acervo lamented that they were not given any committee chairmanship to prove their capabilities.
Acervo, former chairman of the committee on barangay affairs, said, however, that he will cooperate with his colleagues.
