Sketch of Baldomero assailant out; P500,000 reward money raised
The police in Western Visayas has produced an artist’s sketch of the gunman who killed Fernando Baldomero, a Sangguniang Bayan member of Lezo, Aklan, the Police Regional Office 6 said yesterday.
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., police regional director, said the suspect is of medium build, with fair complexion, and between 30 and 40 years old.
Baldomero, 64, was gunned down on the morning of July 5, at Brgy Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan.
Pagdilao, in his report to the Philippine National Police Task Force USIG, said the provincial government of Aklan, led by Gov. Carlito Marquez, has raised a P500,000.00 reward money in exchange for any information that will lead to the identification, arrest, and the solution of the Baldomero murder.
Pagdilao said the reward money was raised following the call of Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño, and former Rep. Satur Ocampo for a speedy resolution of the case.
The two congressmen met with Marquez and the members of Special Investigation Task Group in a briefing conference held at the Aklan Provincial Capitol.
Pagdilao also ordered the PRO6 Crime Laboratory Service to fast track its ballistic examination so that the 45. caliber slugs and empty shells recovered at the crime scene could be cross-matched with others lifted from previous shooting incidents in Western Visayas.
The PRO-6 said investigators are hoping that the firearms used in the Baldomero killing could have been used in previous shooting incidents as this could help in the investigation.
Pagdilao also directed Senior Supt. Epifanio Bragais Jr., head of the SITG Baldomero to check all motorcycle buy-and-sell shops in Aklan and its nearby provinces to possibly determine the buyers of a blue Suzuki motorcycle that was used as getaway vehicle of the assailants.
