Earthquake drill set in Dumarao
ROXAS CITY – An earthquake drill will be held by the Office of the Civil Defense and Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council on July 15 at Dumarao Central School in Dumarao town in line with the National Disaster Consciousness Month celebration.
“This will be the sixth earthquake drill initiated by the OCD and PDCC in Capiz this year,” Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Provincial Head Ramil Atando said.
The previous drills were conducted at Capiz National High School, Capiz State University–Dayao, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Learning Center, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, and Filamer Christian College’s elementary and high school campuses.
“We will hold an orientation before the actual drill is conducted,” Atando said.
The NDCM held every July is embodied in Executive Order No. 137 to heighten public awareness on the importance of disaster prevention, mitigation, and preparedness.
This year’s celebration themed, “Pag Alerto, Malayo sa Peligro,” will undertake several activities like the conduct of information dissemination on disaster preparedness; demonstrations on search and rescue operations; and recognition of local government units and private sector groups that have performed well in the field of disaster risk reduction and management.
