PRO-6 chief orders investigation of eight officials on case meddling
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, police regional director, said he has ordered the investigation of eight police officials ranked “senior superintendents” in the wake of reports that a Police Regional Office 6 official meddled in the robbery cases of three foreign nationals in Iloilo.
A police official through his messenger, also a police officer assigned at the Iloilo Provincial Police Office, allegedly sought the possible dismissal of the cases in the prosecution level.
Pagdilao has tasked Senior Supt. Melvin Gayotin of Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division to look into the report.
Those who will be investigated are Senior Supt. Melchor Fajardo, deputy regional director for operations; Senior Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas, chief of Regional Directorial Staff; Senior Supt. Cornelio Defensor of the Regional Intelligence Division; Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz of the Regional Operations and Personnel Division;
Senior Supt. Wesley Barayuga of the Regional Logistics Division; Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar of the Regional Comptroller Division; Senior Supt. Ren Darroca of the Police Community Relations; and Senior Supt. Marieto Valero of the Regional Headquarters Service Support Group.
All eight police officials were present during a meeting Monday with Pagdilao but all denied involvement.
SUSPECTS
The suspects were identified as Hossein Roshandal, 45, an Iranian national and Pakistanis Yawar Tahir, 29, and Imran Hussein, 20.
They were charged for theft after they attempted to steal cash from the grocery store in Janiuay town last July 3.They allegedly pretended to purchase some goods while eyeing the cashier’s money amounting to P22,000.
Aside from this, the suspects also have pending robbery cases in Iloilo City, Sta. Barbara in Iloilo, and Nueva Ecija.
