CHED okays FCC’s university status
ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Higher Education has approved the conversion of Filamer Christian College into a university, an FCC official said .
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The News Today that the school, which applied for university status last year, passed all requirements set by CHED for its university conversion.
Three CHED commissioners, Luningning Misuarez-Umar, Nona Ricafort and William Medrano, visited the school Monday for final a evaluation.
FCC president Dr. Expedito Señeres already went to Manila to obtain a certificate for the conversion of FCC into a university, the official added.
With its conversion into a university, FCC will become the second university in the province, the first being the Capiz State University with a main campus in Roxas City, and branches in Dumarao, Pontevedra, Pilar, Mambusao, Sapian, Tapaz, and Jamindan towns.
FCC, an affiliate of Capiz Emmanuel Hospital, is a sister school of Central Philippine University and St. Paul Hospital in Iloilo City. Both FCC and CEH are run by the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches Inc.
