Inventory of public cemeteries set
The Iloilo City Government through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office will conduct an intensive inventory and sketch mapping of all tombs and niches at Tanza Public Cemetery starting July 16.
The CENRO is advising immediate families and relatives to coordinate with their office at the third floor of Robinsons Place Iloilo, for proper documentation and filing of information about their deceased loved ones.
The inventory, which will take at least a month, seeks to assign specific number to each tomb for easier identification and convenience to the public particularly during the visits on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.
At least eight CENRO personnel and a cemetery caretaker will conduct the inventories, which will also be conducted next in Quintin Salas and Jereos cemeteries.
The CENRO is also expected to submit a recommendation-request to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog for projects that will address the city’s “very crowded” cemeteries.
