IPPO holds anti-drugs, crime prevention forum
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office conducted a symposium on illegal drugs and crime prevention to more than 3, 000 students of Barotac Nuevo National Comprehensive High School and Dumangas National High School in two separate activities last week.
Chief Insp. Rubenie Grandeza and Senior Insp. Ma. Luisa Cilon were the guest speakers.
Grandeza, chief of Women and Children Protection Center, discussed the bad effects of illegal drugs and the reason why people continue to use illegal drugs despite its ill effects.
She also explained the acronym PEACE, which stands for Peer, Pressure, Escape, Availability, Curiosity and Emptiness, which are the reasons why young people turn to drugs.
Also discussed were the penalties under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Cilon, chief of Police Community Relations Division, gave tips on crime prevention, particularly when being robbed or attempted to be raped.
Before the symposium in Dumangas, the IPPO team also visited Brgy. Talisay in Barotac Nuevo.
