P200-M provincial road concreting completed by end-August
ROXAS CITY – The P200-million provincial road concreting project being undertaken by the Capiz provincial government will soon be completed.
Provincial Engineer Edgar Agana said the 19.65-kilometer road project started was last March 15 and is expected to be finished by the end of August.
The original completion date was supposed to be July, however, the project was delayed by rains.
The P200-million fund for the road concreting project is part of the P683-million credit facility of the provincial government with the Philippine Veterans Bank.
“This proves that the funds were properly used by the provincial government contrary to issues thrown by detractors before that the budget will be used for the election,” Agana said.
He said the infrastructure projects are open for the public to check whether the fund have been properly used by the provincial government.
Meanwhile, Agana said the provincial government is also spending about P18 million for the construction of birthing clinics in every municipality.
Some P5 million is also being spent for road concreting from Ivisan to Basiao, where a beach, considered a potential tourism attraction, is located.
The provincial government is also constructing roads in several villages in Tapaz such as Daan Sur, Apero and other upland barangays.
With the bad road condition, residents in these areas have to pass through Calinog town in Iloilo before reaching Tapaz poblacion to sell their produce.
