P14.5- million wharf to rise in Sapian
SAPIAN, Capiz – The P14.5-million fish port will soon be constructed in Sitio Angkin, Brgy. Poblacion here through the efforts of Mayor Arturo Orosco Sr. with assistance from 2nd District Rep. Jane Tan Castro.
Engr. Jeffrey Fernandez, who is working on the project, told The News Today the construction will start soon as the budget is already available.
Engr. Cherry Yap of Kirskat Venture said the project will only include the first phase which will occupy some 900 square meters.
Yap said the national government will also fund the construction of additional buildings and fish storage area.
Orosco said the four houses that will be affected by the construction will be demolished.
The wharf expansion will enable the port to accommodate more fishing boats who bring their produce to Sapian.
Sapian is a major source of sea products such as talaba (oyster) and tahong (green mussel) and even diwal (angel wings).
