PDEA 6 destroys P5M worth of drugs
About P5 million worth of illegal drugs will be destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 this morning at the agency’s headquarters in Fort San Pedro, adjacent to the Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
Paul Ledesma, officer-in-charge of PDEA-6, said these illegal drugs are the pieces of evidence taken from 57 drug cases around the region, including those that led to conviction and dismissal.
These cases happened from 2002 to present.
Ledesma said these illegal drugs are no longer needed in court that the PDEA 6 will have to destroy the stimulants so that these will not be used or reused anymore.
“We will dissolve amphetamine type of stimulant drugs in water while the marijuana leaves will be boiled in hot water and buried in soil,” he said.
Last year, the PDEA-6 also burned 2.5 million worth of illegal drugs.
At that time, 242 grams of shabu were melted in the water and four kilos of marijuana were burned.
Around 1.5 kilograms of marijuana dried leaves worth P 16,000 were then burned in front of the PNP Crime Laboratory of the Police Regional Office 6 in Camp Martin Delgado.
The marijuana was taken as evidence from custody of suspected drug pusher Charlito Pantilanan of Brgy. Delgado. Pantilanan is currently detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Brgy. Ungka, Jaro district.
Ledesma said the evidence was no longer needed because it was already presented in court.
“The case is not yet finished but the court ordered the burning of the marijuana,” he said.
Today’s activity is part of the PDEA 8th founding anniversary on July 30.
