PDEA-6 monitors 4 drug groups
Four drug groups remain active in Western Visayas even after the recent neutralization of the Segovia drug group operating in Bacolod City, records of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 show.
“These groups are currently under monitoring,” Paul Ledesma, officer-in-charge of PDEA-6, said.
Ledesma, without divulging their specific location, said that majority of these drug groups are in Iloilo City.
The PDEA-6 has already identified the drug lords handling these groups but they could hardly catch them because of lack of direct evidence.
For now, the PDEA-6 is currently coming up with the list of suspected drug pushers, including those with pending drug cases, and previously arrested for illegal drugs.
“Drug pushers with pending and previous cases have the tendency to go back to their previous operations and this is now our main concern,” Ledesma said.
He cited the case of suspected drug lord Mario Segovia in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, who was arrested two weeks ago.
Segovia is facing a string of drug cases filed several years ago, some of which are still under trial.
During his arrest, Segovia was found with P40,000 cash used in the buy-bust operation, six sachets of shabu worth P70,000 to P80,000, drug paraphernalia and a Toyota Fortuner with plate number MMS 99.
Last Wednesday , the PDEA-6 filed cases at the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office against Segovia in violation of sections 5, 11, and 12, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
