CPPO joins anti-dengue drive
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Police Provincial Director Josephus Angan has directed all chiefs of police in the province to help in the fight against the rising dengue fever cases by strictly implementing a “clean and green” program.
Capiz Police Information Officer Donna Asmod said that during the CPPO bloodletting activity at Camp Apil last July 26, Angan urged the police officers to ensure clean surroundings, particularly in all police stations and in their respective homes.
Angan said that cleanliness is the best way to prevent and control the spread of the dengue virus-carrying mosquitoes, which should start in every police office and every policeman’s homes.
Moreover, Asmod said the blood donation activity of the CPPO is their response to the provincial government’s call to help dengue patients.
Forty-three police officers were able to donate 19,250 cubic meters of blood to the Capiz Chapter of the Philippine Red Cross.
Earlier, Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco has declared a state of impending dengue outbreak in the province, including Roxas City, after records of the Provincial Health Office show that 1,044 Capiceños were monitored to have dengue fever, with eight deaths, from January to July 17 this year.
Tanco has directed the mayors, barangay officials and other government officials concerned to take urgent, necessary and appropriate actions to avert a full-blown dengue fever epidemic.
