2 more Alarba rob group members fall
Two more members of the notorious Alarba robbery group have also been arrested, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office said.
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, director of IPPO, said Stanley Alarba was cornered in Brgy. Braulan, San Enrique around 6 a.m. Saturday morning while Jonel Lambuson, at his house in Brgy. Agutayan, in the same town, two days earlier.
The information on Lambuson’s arrest was initially kept to avoid alerting Alarba, he said.
Members of San Enrique Police Station arrested Alarba, who has three pending arrest warrants while Lambuson has one, all for robbery.
The arrest of Alarba and Lambuson brings to five the arrested members of the Alarba group.
Earlier, Jesus Labergue, Raffy Alegria and Greg Alarba were apprehended in Brgy. Abaca, Dueñas by members of IPPO Intelligence Section led by by Supt. Ipil Dueñas and of Passi City police led by Supt. German Garbosa.
Police recovered a grenade from Greg Alarba while a .45 pistol was seized from Labergue. A homemade rifle was recovered from Alegria.
Despite the arrests, Gumban admitted they could not yet declare the group neutralized.
“There are still other members who are out there. Some of them might not have been charged,” he said, adding that they are still collating data on other associates of the group.
With other suspects still on the run, Gumban said they will continue to conduct anti-robbery operations.
Police regional director, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., had earlier declared an “all-out-war” against all crime groups and ordered all chiefs of police to carry-out more manhunts, arrests, and neutralization of criminals especially snatchers and robbers.
Pagdilao also ordered the launching of preemptive and preventive crackdown on all groups identified to be involved in street crimes in urban centers, particularly robbery-hold-up rings in the light of series of robbery incidents in Iloilo Province.
