Defensor hails Corona for pursuing ‘Justice on Wheels’
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. has lauded Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona for continuing the “Justice on Wheels” project.
Defensor welcomed Corona and his party who graced the inauguration of the “Justice on Wheels” project in Western Visayas at the Chief Justice Ramon Avanceña Hall of Justice yesterday.
Defensor said the Justice on Wheels project is “symbolic of the hopes and aspirations of the entire Filipino people for the speedy delivery and dispensation of justice.”
He said despite the many problems of the country’s judiciary system, with the “Justice on Wheels” project, he looks forward “to the day that we can see expeditious delivery of justice.”
Corona, for his part, underscored the importance of the project which primarily aims to help declog the courts of pending cases.
The “Justice on Wheels” bus or Mobile Court is provided with a presiding judge, a clerk of court, a prosecutor, a public attorney, a court stenographer, a docket clerk, a process server, a driver, and a security guard.
The bus, which will go around the six provinces of the region, is custom-built to efficiently serve its functions.
It is divided into two main sections: the front section serves as the courtroom, while the rear section serves as the mediation room. It is fully airconditioned and equipped with amenities for the judge, the court personnel, the litigants and their lawyers.
There are eight Justice on Wheels buses currently operating in various areas around the country.*
