Listing for barangay polls starts
The Commission on Elections 6 has officially started registration for barangay voters which will run until August 13.
Registration for Sangguniang Kabataan elections will be on August 6 to August 15.
The barangay and SK elections are set on October 25 this year.
Election Regional Director Dennis Ausan said registrations will include application for new voters, application of transfer and change of status, reactivation, and correction of entry.
The COMELEC, both in Iloilo city and province, are open during Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Under COMELEC Resolution 8220, only Filipinos who are at least 15 years old but below 18 years old on October 25 are qualified to register for the SK elections.
“They also have to be residents of their barangay for at least six months on election day,” Ausan said.
Meanwhile, new registrants for barangay elections should be above 18-year-old.
Registrants are asked to bring any valid identification card like postal ID, student ID, library card, or passport and National Bureau of Investigation and police clearances.
Ausan urged registrants to bring their identification cards and birth or baptismal certificates, or their school records during the registration period to avoid delay.
Those who have no valid IDs may have somebody vouch for their identities by having them sign an oath of identification.
“Those who are already registered and have voted in last May elections need not register anymore,” he said.
The COMELEC is using Data Capturing Machine during the registration except for SK, to prevent the possible doubling of registration
Ausan said they will return to manual voting and casting of votes and other related-election activities.*
