Provincial gov’t distributes beds, mosquito nets to dengue patients
ROXAS CITY – The provincial government of Capiz distributed close to 100 beds and mosquito nets to hospitals under the management of the provincial government in line with its efforts to contain dengue fever in the province.
Twenty each were given to Mambusao District Hospital, Bailan District Hospital, and Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital while 10 each to Dumarao District Hospital, Tapaz District Hospital, and Dao District Hospital.
The beds and mosquito nets were given to the hospitals for use dengue patients.
Earlier, Capiz was placed under a state of calamity following the increase of dengue fever cases so that the local government units can use their five percent calamity funds.
The Provincial Board issued guidelines on how the LGUs can use its calamity funds to finance the prevention of dengue and subsidize the hospitalization of the indigent dengue victims.
The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council also came up with an action plan to stop the increase of dengue cases in Capiz.
Meanwhile, the Roxas City Government also declared a state of dengue outbreak.
The Capiz Epidemiological Surveillance and Response Unit revealed that there are 1,535 dengue cases with 12 deaths in the province.
Roxas City has the highest number of cases at 444, with five deaths.
It is followed by Dao with 139 cases; Pontevedra, 105; President Roxas, 92; Dumalag, 88; Panay, 87; Pilar, 86; Cuartero, 68; Maayon, 64; Panitan, 63; Mambusao, 54; Sigma, 47; Jamindan, 38; Dumarao, 33; Ivisan, 33; Tapaz, 20; and Sapian, 16.
