Assumption Holds Centennial Family Fun Run
WITH August 2010 marking the 100th year of Assumption Convent’s education in Iloilo the Assumption High School Batch 92 and 94 headed by their very efficient Project Coordinators Marjorie Ann Florete, Ann Rapunzel Ganzon–Endencia and Ruth Kristin Magbanua–Ledesma and Shiela Javellana–Uygongco put up the much talked about Centennial Family Fun Run which gathered around 1,700 participants coming from varied groups made up of students, faculties, alumni and their families, friends of the Assumption and serious marathon enthusiasts.
The 6K Family Fun Run stated in SM CITY Iloilo going to the Assumption Convent and back to SM CITY had everyone in high spirit and in good sportsmanship despite the cold morning breeze at 4:30 AM.
The Fun Run’s aim was to raise funds for the school’s Centennial Sports Complex and at the same time engage the people to a fun and healthy activity. Free T-shirts were given away to the first 250 finishers and souvenir telephone wire bracelets to all who reached the Assumption Convent grounds.
Present during the Centennial Family Fun Run were Assumption Convent’s Mother Superior Sr. Clare Cecilia Salvani, r.a., AAA President Marissa Segovia, PTA Prexy Vice Mayor Joe Espinosa III, Assumption Centennial Committee Jungie Hortillas and alumnus Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
