Agri tech park proposed
Officers and members of the University of Los Baños Alumni Association of Negros Occidental have presented a proposal to Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. for the establishment of UPLB Alumni Sustainable Agriculture Technology Project at the UPLB College of Agriculture Research and Training Station at La Granja, La Carlota City.
The proposed project, presented during the group’s visit to the Capitol, is in line with the “Negros First” Development Agenda.
It will showcase different agricultural technologies based on the principles of sustainable agriculture and it will also demonstrate different technologies such as: the integration of production systems, compose of crops and livestock and other agricultural commodities; production technology and component systems; processing and packaging; seed production and distribution of planting materials and improve breeds in animal production.
The project will also undertake rural extension program by adopting a farming community.
Marañon requested the group to formulate the Memorandum of Agreement for this purpose and directed Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan and Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena to organize trainings and set up a demonstration farm in the area.
