DOH marks Family Planning Month
The Department of Health has designated the month of August of every year as the National Family Planning Month with the theme “May Plano Ako. Kaya Mo Ring Magplano.” (I have a plan. You can plan too.)
The celebration centers on the attainment of a better quality of life for the mother, the father, and the family as a whole.
The DOH-Western Visayas will hold a regional launching of the National Family Planning Month in Bacolod City on August 24.
Representatives from Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, including the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod, are expected to participate in the event.
Based on the result of the latest Pulse Asia Nationwide Survey on Reproductive Health, 5 out of 10 Filipino couples want to have no more children, while 7 out of 10 really want to practice family planning.
According to the survey, many Filipinos believe that having a plan is good for their families, that the government should help them plan their families, and that they should get information and services to help them plan their families.
Couples are encouraged to achieve their dreams for a quality life through proper birth spacing of at least three years. Couples who are interested to know more on how to plan their family can go to their nearest health centers.
Couples can also attend free health classes and counseling sessions by the health service provider in their locality.*PIA
